This trio formed by Guillaume Gillain explores the diverse colours that the drumless formation with guitar, piano and double bass offers. Inspired by the famous Nat King Cole trio, these musicians revisit the great standards of swing era. Having always played together, it is with a huge complicity that they share their passion for this music.

The remarkable voice, soothing tone and astonishing vocal technique of lady singer and composer Sinne Eeg, set her right in the tracks of singers such as Nancy Wilson, Betty Carter and Sarah Vaughan, yet adding her own soft Scandinavian melancholy. Born in Lemvid (Denmark), she has already collaborated extensively on the international scene and released 12 Cds (a few of them being published by prestigious Rercord label EMI) and was honoured with several international titles (Denmark's Grammy, the Ben Webster Prize, the Prix du Jazz…). First time at the Village for 2 nights in the company of talented pianist IVAN PADUART and some other famous jazz cats. BOOK EARLY !

Angelo Gregorio is a very active Brussels based jazz saxophonist who, on this occasion, will present his trio and new album "Ceci n'est pas un trio".  Through the name "Ceci n'est pas un trio" Angelo wants to pay homage to the country that welcomed him ten years ago, Belgium, referring to Magritte's surrealism.  At the heart of this trio is the passion for the great era of New Orleans and Swing, which began with the first jazz records of ODJB in 1917 'till the swing of the great orchestras of the 40s. Angelo and his fellow musicians, in addition to the high musical level, have a desire : Show the audience that music, in this case jazz, is in perennial connection with other arts, and draws, interprets and re-elaborates facts, values, ancient and current traditions. Definitely a jazz trio that will swing you out of your chair!

Based in Brussels, Blue Bossa Liberté is a Brazilian Fusion quartet. Their repertoire consists mainly of personal compositions inspired by the Bossa Nova, jazz harmonies and Afro-Brazilian rhythms. They also play some original arrangements of pearls of Brazilian music coming from composers such as Tom Jobim, HermetoPascoal, Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso ... The group has been selected as a promising group of talent by the project Ça Balance Fédération Wallonie - Bruxelles. They have just released their second album – Monstros Tetraterriepelaticais

Holly Blue is a modern jazz band based in Brussels. The band was founded by Dutch singer Renée Steenvoorden. With three different nationalities in this band (Taiwan, Italy and The Netherlands) the band created its own sound. The band plays especially compositions by singer Renée in a modern jazz style with influences of pop and folk music. In addition they also play jazz standards in a more traditional way. Inspired by today's society, the beautiful nature and traditional folk music from Ireland and Scotland you'll hear a unique sound: melodic, catchy, surprising chords, twists and rhythms played by jazz musicians of today.

The trio will pay homage to the great pianist Bill Evans, former pianist of Miles Davis, then leader of his own particular trio characterized by the interplay between the three musicians. Arthur, Lucas & Gaëtan will perform some of Bill's compositions and standards he used to play in that period.

FLAVIO SPAMPINATO’S QUARTET

A BRAZILIAN LOVE AFFAIR

 

Flavio Spampinato (vocals), Andrea Saffirio (piano), Fil Caporali (double bass), Vinicius Lima (drums)

 

The field of action of the Quartet embraces different rhythms and decades of the MPB (Brazilian Popular Music). Chico Buarque, Joao Gilberto, Tom Jobim, and Milton Nascimento are only a few of the authors chosen by Italian vocalist Flavio Spampinato to honor what he defines “an endless universe of inspiration”. Following a jazz-derived practice of arrangement and improvisation, the Quartet, half Brazilian half European, carries out a collective work of arrangement in an acoustic yet groovy aesthetic, with a foot in the contemporary.
