CARTE BLANCHE TO NATASHA VAN EERDEWEGH

Natasha Van Eerdewegh is a jazz pianist, composer, singer and music teacher. Born in Brussels to a musician father, she had an early classical training before turning towards jazz at the age of 18. With Bill Evans, Wayne Shorter, Richie Beirach, Avishai Cohen and Thelonious Monk as main influences, her music is open and puts interaction between musicians at the forefront. After completing a bachelor degree at the «  Université Libre de Bruxelles » in philosophy, she graduated in 2018 from Brussels Conservatory where she studied with Eric Legnini, Vincent Bruyninckx and Pete Churchill. She is now working on several projects, singing and playing traditional jazz and writing her own music. In December 2019, she released her first original album called « La Piccola Scimmia », souvenir of a one year journey in Italy where she had the opportunity to study with Rosario Giuliani, Maria Pia De Vito and Roberto Gatto, as she dedicated more time to composition.

Jonathan Ho-Chin Kiat (Double bass), Ap Verhoeven (Drums), Filippo Deorsola (Piano)

Anaphora is the brainchild of Pianist Filippo Deorsola, Bassist Jonathan Ho-Chin-Kiat and Drummer Ap Verhoeven.  The band was created on the basis of both a musical and human connection between the three musicians and this connection was further expanded upon through original compositions, arrangements.  Though originally the band was set on developing a more focused approach based on free improvisation, the band-sound became a mirror of the three musicians' wide-ranging influences: from free jazz to folk and from avant-garde to groove. Prepare to be drawn into Anaphora's soundscapes and enjoy, just like the band on stage, music that based first and foremost, on authentic and sincere human interaction.

Joachim Caffonnette trio

Dans le cadre du Jazz Tour, Une coproduction The Music Village et Les Lundis d’Hortense

Joachim Caffonnette met double bass player Alex Gilson, freshly arrived in Brussels.

Together, they did several gigs in trio with local drummers, having fun on jazz standards.

They decided to organise a mini tour in Belgium and Eastern France. Gilson called Paris-based drummer, Jean-Baptiste Pinet for the gigs. After the first notes, it appeared that the connection between the three musicians was almost telepathic,

consolidated by a common vision of the interplay. Since then, they have been touring in Europe, mixing standards with Caffonnette’s originals and some pop-rock cover arranged by the band leader. Good moments ahead !

Laurent Doumont has been taking his grooves out to clubs and festivals on the streets of Brussels and abroad for more than 20 years, trying to bring color to Belgium’s grey. Recently, an introspective quest of his Sicilian descent gave birth to the « Americano » project. Twelve great Italian standards joyfully adapted in the Soul Jazz idiom he cares for. A very personal project indeed. Try to imagine Celentano, Modugno or Paolo Conte covered in the manner of Marvin Gaye, Al Green or Serge Gainsbourg… If you close your eyes, you can almost hear the waves on the beaches of Capri.
