West Coast is a style of jazz developped in Los Angeles and San Francisco in the 50s, often seen as a subgenre of cool jazz, which consisted of a calmer style than bebop or hard bop.

Gerry Mulligan / Chet Baker Quartet (one of the most famous « pianoless » quartet), the Lee Konitz / Warne Marsh / Lennie Tristano association or the Four Brothers (with Stan Getz and Zoot Sims) have had a strong influence on the jazz scene for decades.
