Trio V.O
The Music Village Rue des Pierres 50 Steenstraat, BrusselsAmerican, French, Italian Standards
Laurent Doumont (Sax & vocals), Patrick Deltenre (Guitar), Victor Foulon (Bass)
Standards are the playground for this trio. Whether they are American, French or Italian doesn't matter, the criteria for inclusion in Trio VO's repertoire are the elegance of the melodies and harmonies, and their osmosis with the lyrics ; all the things making a good song. From Serge Gainsbourg to Domenico Modugno or Henri Mancini, the influence of the 1960s is omnipresent, served with complicity by these three swing lovers. We are reminded of Sinatra, Chet Baker, Joe Pass or Stan Getz and we let ourselves carried away by the narrative of a music that is told as it is sung, listened to as it is danced, nostalgic yet happy.

Disney’s music was always greatly influenced by the period of time in which the films were made. Jazz was an inevitable source of inspiration. The movies and their music’s rich history inspired this Belgian jazz sextet to tackle the immortal Disney repertoire. They selected songs from 10 of Disney’s earlier masterpieces made between 1941 and 1989. They jazzed up the repertoire with the utmost respect for the original written music, but gave it their own interpretation nonetheless. Jazz meets Disney or Disney meets Jazz ?

Olivier Poumay (harmonica), Hervé Noirot (piano),
Jan De Hass (drums), Sal La Rocca (bass)
I still get very emotional when I think of our discussions. The last time he called me was to tell me that he had recommended me. Another time, he said to me: "You didn't choose an easy path. But I see you have a personal style. That's very good" and then he talked about the importance of playing another instrument and the legato... Lots of emotions …

Standard Deviation+ Jazz Jam Session
The Music Village Rue des Pierres 50 Steenstraat, BrusselsYuxiang Zhang (guitar and effects), Umberto Odone (drums)
"Standard Deviation" is a duo of two friends that wants to find different paths of expression in the so noble, and as well challenging, art of playing standards.
In Jazz, "Standard" is a composition that is part of the musical repertoire of jazz musicians; a very much known, performed, and recorded material by jazz musicians, as well as known by jazz listeners.
Getting rid of the classic trio (or more) formation, the duo forces himself to go out out of the canonic ways to play this repertoire.
The arrangemets infact are made and thought for a formation that has deficit in low frequencies, since is missing the ground that the bass usually provides.
From here rise a variation in the research, just like a Standard Deviation in Statistics: a measure of the amount of variation of a set of values.
Original songs are also part of the duo's repertoire.
