Clément Cerovecki (piano), Sophian Bourire (double bass)
Fascinated by the history of jazz, these two musicians are interested in melodies enriched by the many cultural exchanges that happened during the emergence of this musical genre. They are particularly interested in Negro spirituals: African American religious songs born in the 18th century from the fusion of elements taken from the African musical tradition and of elements taken from the Lutheran religion. They also perform folk tunes from various regions of Europe, as well as some more modern compositions linked to this history. The duo has been particularly inspired by two brilliant albums featuring jazz legends Charlie Haden and Hank Jones – “Steal Away” and “Come Sunday”.
