Nacelle’s original compositions are based on afro-creole inspired rhythms, blended with meditative melodies and trance-like grooves. The band is inspired by spiritual jazz from the 1960s – represented by the likes of Abdullah Ibrahim, Yusef Lateef, Pharoah Sanders and Alice Coltrane – as well as by contemporary spiritual jazz – with such musicians as Naïssam Jalal, Matthew Halsall and Shabaka Hutchings.
The band’s musical aesthetic has inspired film directors Julien Regnard and Pascal Giraud (who have also worked with jazz singer Cécile McLorin Salvant): they are currently working on an animated video clip for one of the tracks featured on Nacelle’s first EP out in 2025.
