RUBY is Lorenzo Di Maio’s new quartet, featuring the cream of the new jazz scene: Wajdi Riahi on piano, Cédric Raymond on synths and Pierre Hurty on drums.
RUBY plunges us into a singular sonic ambience where the electric strings mingle with the clarity and brilliance of the acoustic piano, where the warmth of the analogue synths envelops the sometimes clear, sometimes saturated playing of the guitars. Melody is at the heart of this group, which alternates obvious, simple and spontaneous passages with more complex, more written moments.
